U3A WILDLIFE GROUP 2017 Review

We enjoyed another feast of wildlife during 2017. Group members are developing and contributing their knowledge to our walks although all that is required to join us is enthusiasm for the natural world, appropriate clothing and the ability to get to the start of walks.

We have visited a variety of sites both local and a little more distant. New sites this year included Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows in Northamptonshire, Godmanchester Nature Reserve in Cambridgeshire and, much closer to home, Pat’s Meadow in Milton Ernest and Hundred Acre in Bedford itself. We also returned to some old favourites!

Guest walk leaders have added a different and interesting dimension on a few occasions and Barrie Mason again helped out when I was unavailable. I am very grateful to these people and also to Jean Smith who looks after membership administration and supports me in planning the programme and some of the walks.

Anyone wishing to join the group will be most welcome.
