EDITORIAL
Now that this magazine is also being published in  PDF form as well as the website, I have tried to change the layout to make it easier to read from a computer.
On page 11 you will see photos of a few of our new members who came to the New Members meeting on April 5th.
For the next Bulletin, due out on 7th September, Mike suggested that for the back page photos, we might have an example of the best work from all the Art and Craft groups. Would the leaders and members of Art (1) and (2); Photography (2) and (3); Craft; Card Making , please send a photograph to me for inclusion not later than August 1st. It would be nice if a photo of the artist/craftsman could be attached.

September: evenings draw in, mornings get crisper, children go back to school, winter wardrobes are checked ,new projects  planned and classes joined. I have been a ’townie’ for too many years to count, but autumn for me is still the smell of bonfires, getting in the harvest, storing apples ,scrunching leaves. What does Autumn mean to you? Please write a piece for the next Bulletin to share with other members.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this issue and to all of you who are even now writing for the September Bulletin!

Beds Plus Quiz.. We Won!
Bedford U3A entered two teams in the Beds Plus  quiz on Friday 8th April at
Buckingham. We arrived at Cornwallis Meadow Community Centre at about 13-30 to a warm welcome from our Buckingham hosts.
Due to unforeseen illness, we only had 11 members who were divided into two teams, Bedford One of six members, and Bedford Two of five members.
Bedford One team consisted of: Pam Laycock,
Shirley Jones, Jean Wildman, Sybil Davies,
Daphne Wheaton and Stuart Antrobus.
Bedford Two  team consisted of :
Kathy Marriot, Barry Howden, Maurice Kennedy
and Sandy and David Hebblethwaite.
There were nine teams competing and
competition was fierce although the
atmosphere was  friendly. There was a wide
ranging mix of categories and
questions with subjects as diverse as : Music,
General Knowledge, Sport, Beds or Bucks,
Food and Drink, Who said that ? to name but a
few.  There were also two picture rounds where
we had to identify various places/buildings.
Scores were quite close until the interval, and generally remained that way until the final round when Bedford One team stormed into the lead to beat Buckingham One team by two clear points.
Bedford number Two team fought valiantly ,and although we didn't win, neither were we in last place. Congratulations to Bedford One team on a well deserved win. Thank you  to everyone who took part for the pleasure of your company and thanks also to Buckingham U3A for organising such an enjoyable event.
