We met our guides in Westminster Hall and had a tour of the House of Lords and the various side lobbies which were all ornately decorated in the Gothic style with generous layers of gold. Then to the Commons where our guides explained some of the protocol still practised although much of the need for it has disappeared. I ask you, when did we last see an MP with a sword? We then became MPs registering our vote in Ays and Nays lobbies with the two whips counting our votes
We then met our local MP who answered questions put to him.
After lunch, to the National Gallery where again we were in two groups with an NT expert.Each group studied 4 paintings in detail. Copies of 2 of them shown.
